Invicta Formula 2's Drivers for Teams & Championship

The team that won Formula 2's Drivers' and Teams' championships in both 2024 and 2025 is owned by the company behind Invicta watches. Invicta is the brand most people know from mall stores and TV shopping channels, not the paddock, which makes this the strangest storyline in the watch world right now. It is also the reason the Invicta Racing watch collection exists. The story is genuinely interesting, and it comes with a pricing quirk you should understand before you buy anything.

Invicta Racing: the Formula 2 team behind the watches

Invicta first showed up in 2023 as title sponsor of Virtuosi Racing, a team founded back in 2012. Time and Tide called Invicta the first consumer brand to take a title sponsorship of an F2 team, and pointed out that no watch brand had courted entry-level buyers in motorsport since Casio left AlphaTauri's livery. By 2024 Invicta Watch Group had bought into the team, which was renamed Invicta Racing and wrapped in the brand's yellow and black. In 2025 Invicta took full control, Leonardo Fornaroli won the Drivers' title, and the team repeated as Teams' Champions, the first team since Prema to win both in consecutive years.

Invicta Racing entered 2026 as the reigning Teams' Champions. For this season it signed Rafael Câmara, the 2025 Formula 3 champion and a Ferrari Driver Academy member, alongside Joshua Dürksen. The pattern has been blistering one-lap speed. Câmara took back-to-back poles in the spring, the team locked out the front row in Barcelona, and Câmara had four poles by the Belgian round. Turning those poles into wins has been harder, so check the FIA Formula 2 site for where the team stands today.

Why does that matter if you are shopping for a watch? Because a watch brand with a real, winning team gets to sell racing watches with a straight face, and Invicta Watch Group announced a racing-inspired collection after taking full ownership of the team.

The Invicta Racing watch collection, and what you actually get

The Racing range is big. When I checked, Invicta's own store showed 622 products under its Racing watches collection, a pile that also includes the S1 Rally and Speedway lines. Take the Sector Grid, one of the core models. It is a 43mm case in black-toned steel with a mineral crystal and a silicone strap, powered by a VD54 quartz chronograph movement that the listing credits to TMI. Quartz means no winding and no fuss, and a mineral crystal will pick up scratches faster than sapphire would.

Two honest caveats. First, water resistance is a mess on paper: the spec table says 50 meters while the description text says 29, so keep it out of the pool. Second, Invicta's marketing leans on a Swiss founding in 1837, but the listing for this watch says plainly that it is not Swiss Made. That is fine for what it is, as long as you know what it is.

There is also a 52mm plastic digital Racing model that is 17mm thick, rated to 100 meters, with a mineral crystal and a CR2032 battery. If that sounds like a lot of watch, it is.

Why nobody should pay Invicta's list price

This is the quirk. Across the listings I found, Invicta's crossed-out prices and its actual selling prices live in different universes. Here is a snapshot from early October 2026, plus one widely covered deal from May. Prices swing between listings and days, so treat these as examples, not promises.

Watch Listed price Price seen Where
Racing Sector Grid 43mm, White (50672) $399 $35.99 Invicta Stores, Oct 2026
Racing Sector Grid 43mm, Orange (48474) $399 $159.99 Invicta Stores, Oct 2026
Racing Cyclone 48.5mm, White (48719) $299 $35.99 Invicta Stores, Oct 2026
Speedway Dominus 42mm, Black (50855) $199 $25.99 Invicta Stores, Oct 2026
Pro Diver 42mm, Blue Dial (quartz) $995 MSRP, $299 recently $115 ShopHQ, May 2026

A $399 list price next to a $35.99 selling price tells you the list price is a story, not a measurement. The practical rule is simple: judge an Invicta by what it actually sells for, never by the number with a line through it. One more thing worth knowing is that the ShopHQ deal coverage comes from Athlon, which is owned by the same parent company as ShopHQ, so read deal articles as commerce content.

Are Invicta watches worth it in 2026?

It depends on what you are buying. Time and Tide's editors describe Invicta as a mall and TV-shopping brand known for affordable, homage-driven designs, and that reputation is not going away because the team keeps winning. A Racing quartz chronograph is a loud, large, inexpensive watch with a fun story behind it. It is not a precision instrument, and it is not an investment.

Buy one if you follow the yellow and black team, if you want a bold quartz chronograph at its real selling price, or if you need a gift for a car person. Skip it if you want sapphire crystal, a Swiss or in-house movement, or a case that disappears under a cuff, and skip it for sure if the price in your cart is the crossed-out one.

Invicta watches in 2026 are a marketing success story first and a horology story second, and that is a perfectly fair thing to enjoy. Would you wear a watch because of the team behind it?
